‘Take this love’
Spirit bubbling like champagne
Effervescent, capricious, heady
Spirit of Adventure. Gypsy soul. Thirst for all that speaks of beauty
Powerful love, felt by all
Who come close to your joy and grace
Inspired by the creative surge
Radiant, passionate gem. That is you.
‘I will be there for you’
We vowed so many years ago.
And so it is. Forever. Near as breath.
As warm. As nourishing.
This new adventure- boldly go
Before me, this time. All is well
Light the path, find the greatness
That is you. Rejoicing lightbody girl
The many times, and lives and laughter
Togther. Dancing, spinning,
Arms held high,head bowed.Smiling
Feel the beat within your soul
Fly high and strong. Take this love.

Dear cousins, Aunt Bootsma and Paul,
I am so sorry to hear that beautiful Margaretha is no longer with us. Know that we across the big ocean will think of her and you.

I’ve know Margaretha for many years, though we lost touch along the way. She was young and beautiful when we met, a mysterious artist, blond hair flowing from under a navy blue beret. I called her Maggie and she didn’t seem to mind. But then she was always a person of exceptional grace. You are missed Maggie, even from across the years.

Margaretha was my treasured friend since we were in our early twenties. Since I heard of her passing, I have felt her touch on the breath of wind, seen her in the graceful trees reaching up to the clouds and hear her voice in the beautiful music.

Dear Paul and Bootsma family,
I am so sorry that Margaretha has been taken from you. She will always be a part of my life and will be remembered with love forever. She did fight bravely and had a smile and a kind words for everyone. Her thought provoking work gave so much to all of us. She had a generosity of spirit and a supreme love of life which was infectious. I;ll remember her smiling face and her voice which was music to my ears.

Dear Bootsma family, I am so saddened to learn of Margaretha’s passing. I never knew she had become an accomplished artist, I wish I could tell her now how much I like her work. As you gather together to mourn her loss and celebrate her life I too shall remember her. My regards,

Hey where did we go,
Days when the rains came
Down in the hollow,
Playin’ a new game,
Laughing and a running hey, hey
Skipping and a jumping
In the misty morning fog with
Our hearts a thumpin’ and you
My brown eyed girl,
You’re my brown eyed girl.
Do you remember when we used to sing,
Sha la la la la la la la la la la te da
To My Sister:
Then come, my Sister, Come I pray
With speed put on your woodland dress;
And bring no book:
For this one day
We’ll give to idleness.
This was one of the great poems I dedicate to you my beautiful sister….I will miss you always and so look forward to the day that we will again dance and sing to…..Brown Eyed Girl.
For my sweet big sister Marg “my brown eyed girl” i remember being a kid and singing Maggie May and thinking Rod Steward Knows my sister? Your phone calls were always a high light as we would banter back and forth with the “hellooows” and you always seem to do it an a accent that only you could do. We would play this game everytime and then you would laugh and say is that you Harold? I’m going to miss you my love, you will be forever in my thoughts.
I lift my eyes to heaven, hoping to see you but all I can see is sky and as my eyes fall back to earth they are flooded by the beauty that you saw every day in everything you did, even though your brush lies still, the art that is your life will remain strong in the hearts and minds of those who love you and we will miss your smile and we look forward to the day we meet again by our saviors side
– I miss you auntie margret, we’ll meet again in glory

Beautiful Ending – by BarlowGirl
Oh, tragedy
Has taken so many
Love lost cause they all
Forgot who You were
And it scares me to think
That I would choose
My life over You
Oh, my selfish heart
Divides me from You
It tears us apart
So tell me
What is our ending?
Will it be beautiful
So beautiful?
Oh, why do I
Let myself let go
Of Hands that painted the stars
And hold tears that fall?
And the pride of my heart
Makes me forget
It’s not me but You
Who makes the heart beat
I’m lost without You
And you’re dying for me
So tell me
What is our ending?
Will it be beautiful
So beautiful?
Will my life
Find me by Your side?
Your love is beautiful
So beautiful
At the end of it all
I wanna be in Your arms
At the end of it all
I wanna be in Your arms
At the end of it all
I wanna be in Your arms
At the end of it all
I wanna be in Your arms
So tell me
What is our ending?
Will it be beautiful
So beautiful?
Will my life
Find me by Your side?
‘Cause Your love is beautiful
So beautiful
Grace Like Rain – by Todd Agnew
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I’m found
Was blind but now I see so clearly
Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, they’re washed away
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, they’re washed away
When we’ve been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We’ve no less days to sing Your praise
Than when we first begun
Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, they’re washed away x2
hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah
hallelujah all my stains are washed away, there washed away.
Oh, tragedy
Has taken so many
Love lost cause they all
Forgot who You were
And it scares me to think
That I would choose
My life over You
Oh, my selfish heart
Divides me from You
It tears us apart

Margaretha
for my friend and Margaretha’s sister Rita Terriff
March 12, 2011
Daughter,
Sister,
Artist,
Friend.
Partner.
Piecing together colour and beauty,
to make more.
Dancing around the edges of wonder
and making them visible
for lesser mortals.
A tough and tender collage
wholly human
blessed and now departed
to dance with the wind;
her dust twined
with the dust of eternity
Cleopatra,
Gypsy dancers,
and other fine and anonymous women
who dared to create
bold beauty
from what life gave them.
A kiss for pardon
and for joy
as a breeze brushes your cheek
or ruffles your hair
A shout to waken your wonder
when the wind is loud
and dust gets in your eye.
Love remains.
Startling.
Lively.

I met Margaretha through my brother and his best friend (David Yard) many years ago. I remember Margaretha as being a beautiful young woman then and heard that she went on in life to be very artisitic and full of grace.
I heard the celebration of her life was a very emotional one as she will be so very missed by everyone who ever knew her. Rest in Peace

Peace and love to the family of Margaretha…She was a dear friend and we were always laughing and sharing ideas about found materials and just how to get that huge piece of metal to the studio.
I will miss her greatly…..she is a bright light and touched all she came in contact with.
